The roll in nutshells

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data platforms using Microsoft Azure technologies. The role supports the data needs of external clients by enabling reliable ingestion, transformation, storage, and delivery of data from diverse sources.this position works closely with Data Analysts, AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and client-facing teams to deliver high-quality data solutions that power reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases, while ensuring data quality, security, and governance.

Duties and responsibilities

Data Pipeline & Platform Development

• Design, build, and optimize scalable, reliable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, and related Azure services.
• Develop and manage ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, transform, and integrate data from structured and unstructured sources.
• Implement efficient data modeling and transformation strategies to support analytics and downstream AI/ML workloads.

Data Quality, Reliability & Performance

• Ensure high standards of data quality, consistency, integrity, and availability across data environments.
• Monitor data pipelines and workflows, proactively identify issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of data processing jobs.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner with Data Analysts, AI Engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and enable reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases.
• Support client-facing teams by delivering well-documented, production-ready data solutions.
• Translate business and analytical requirements into robust technical data designs.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement and maintain data security, access controls, and privacy measures in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Apply data governance best practices, including metadata management, data lineage, and documentation.
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive and client data across platforms.

Documentation & Best Practices

• Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, schemas, and operational processes.
• Contribute to data engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement of data architecture and engineering processes.

Continuous Learning

• Stay current with emerging data engineering tools, Azure platform enhancements, and industry best practices.
• Share knowledge and learnings with the broader data and technology teams.

Required Qualifications 

• 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services, such as:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Pipelines)
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or similar languages for data processing.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, star schemas, etc.).
• Experience implementing data quality, monitoring, and performance optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with data security, access control, and governance concepts.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics workloads.
• Exposure to big data technologies or distributed processing frameworks.Azure certifications (e.g., DP‑900, DP‑203, Fabric-related certifications).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
