The role in a nutshell:
The Junior Legal Officer will draft and review various contracts, provide legal advice, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and maintain legal documents.
What you will do in this role:
- Draft, Review and provide legal advice on business related Contracts, Employment Contracts, MOUs, NDAs and other legal instruments.
- Execution of Deeds where necessary.
- Provide and interpret legal information, create awareness of any relevant changes in legislations applicable to our company’s operations, and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
- Assist in drafting policies and procedures and compliance mechanisms.
- Formulate legal compliance checklists to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
- Maintain a central repository of all corporate and legal documents, communicate any changes to relevant authorities and monitor if all statutory submissions are completed timely.
- Assist finance team to initiate legal proceedings to recover debt and liaise with external legal service providers.
- Review progress of litigations and liaise with and manage external lawyers where required.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the superiors.
What we are looking for:
- Attorney -at-Law enthusiastic to join the Corporate Sector.
- Attorney -at-Law with minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience as a lawyer in contract drafting, contract reviewing.
- Having a LL.B degree from a recognized University and license to practice as a Notary Public in Colombo judicial zone will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge in relation to data protection laws and other information technology related legislation will be an added advantage.
