#CoolKidsCode: Tech One Provides Free Coding Lessons for Kids

Tech One Global Brunei, spearheaded by Tarmizi Yusoff, Ang Ting Hang, and William Mallari,  provided a free sessions of coding lessons, aimed at students having their school holiday breaks, which ran from 31st March to 1st April.
“The objective of the event was to get students, specifically the youth, gain awareness about coding,” Tarmizi said. “Our intention was to let the students have the basic coding ideas, and ultimately ask more, and finally investigate more by themselves.”

The event highlights introduction to coding for students with lecturers Md. Izzuddin Hj Md. Hussin and Abd Wafi Bin Jh Mohd Khairizan. The event included a fun tackle on tips and tricks for Microsoft Office Suite. As a bonus, students also had a chance to enjoy the latest PC hardware to date.
The event was jam-packed with topics, hands-on, and how-to’s. The main topics covered during the sessions are:

  • An introduction to coding where students where absolute beginners were able to learn simple programming skills.
  • Microsoft Office Tips and Tricks Course that covered Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and OneNote. Students were encouraged to create emails on Outlook to receive the full benefits of the suite.

The overall event had a good turnout. “We had so many good responses from parents who are interested in more events such as this,” Tarmizi added.
At the end of the event, students were given a token of appreciation from Netcom Computer House for completing a full day’s session.

Evidently a large success, the coordinators are brewing another coding session for students in the coming holiday breaks ahead. Stay posted for announcements!
